Polyaspartic vs epoxy

Why we use polyaspartic.

Polyaspartic costs more than epoxy, and it's worth it. Here's the short list of why.

  • Won't yellow in the sun.
  • Resists chemicals, oils, and household cleaners.
  • Wears better than epoxy. Epoxy chips and wears down. This doesn't.
  • Stays flexible enough to handle slab movement without cracking.
  • Cures faster than epoxy when we want it to, so you get the floor back sooner.

Cure time

We don't rush the cure

Some shops use accelerants to push the cure and finish a job in hours. We don't. We let the coating cure the way it's supposed to so the bond is stronger and the floor lasts. A floor that fails in two years isn't a fast job. It's a redo.

Flake coating process

How a flake floor goes down.

Seven steps, in order. We don't skip any of them.

7 step process

  1. Step 1: Grind the concrete

    Diamond-grind the slab clean. This opens the surface so the coating actually grips it.

  2. Step 2: Repair cracks and pits

    Fill cracks, chips, and low spots so the base is solid before anything goes on it.

  3. Step 3: Moisture barrier and basecoat

    Install the moisture barrier, then roll the polyaspartic basecoat.

  4. Step 4: Broadcast the flake

    Throw flake into the wet basecoat until the floor is fully covered. No bare spots.

  5. Step 5: Scrape and vacuum

    Once it cures, scrape down the loose edges and vacuum off the excess flake.

  6. Step 6: Polyaspartic topcoat

    Seal the floor with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. This is what makes it tough and easy to clean.

  7. Step 7: Final inspection

    Walk the floor with you. Check coverage, edges, and finish before we call it done.

Metallic coating process

How a metallic floor goes down.

Same prep discipline as flake. The look is different because we work the pigment by hand.

7 step process

  1. Step 1: Grind the concrete

    Diamond-grind the slab clean so the coating can grip the surface.

  2. Step 2: Repair cracks and pits

    Fill cracks, chips, and low spots so nothing telegraphs through the finish.

  3. Step 3: Primer and basecoat

    Install the moisture barrier and primer, then roll the basecoat.

  4. Step 4: Work the metallic pigment

    Pour and move the metallic pigment by hand to build movement, swirl, and depth. Every floor looks a little different.

  5. Step 5: Detailing

    Touch up edges and high spots so the pattern flows from wall to wall.

  6. Step 6: Clear polyaspartic topcoat

    Seal it under a UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat that locks in the look and protects it.

  7. Step 7: Final inspection

    Walk the floor with you and check every section before we call it done.

We can set your logo, a custom design, or color pattern into the floor and seal it under the clear coat. Good for businesses, showrooms, and garages. It becomes part of the floor and won't wear off.

The moisture barrier

The step most shops skip.

Concrete holds water and pushes it back up. If you don't block it, the coating bubbles, peels, or delaminates.

We install a moisture barrier before any coating goes down. It seals the slab so vapor can't push up through it. Without this step, even the best topcoat will fail in a few years. With it, the floor stays bonded.

  • Stops bubbling and peeling.
  • Stronger bond between the slab and the coating.
  • Handles vapor pressure from below the slab.
  • Longer floor life. This is the difference between five years and decades.

This is why the guarantee can be 20 years to life.

Most coatings fail for one reason. Moisture comes up through the concrete and lifts the coating off the slab. So we stop it at the source. Before any coating goes down, we install a moisture barrier. That's the step most shops skip, and it's why we can stand behind our floors this long.

If a floor we installed fails because of our work or our materials, we come back and fix it. No runaround.
